An agent friend called my last week and was complaining about the deals he had going on and how hard they were to keep on track. His clients were upset because they didn’t know what was going on… heck, he didn’t know what was going on. He could not get the lender, the attorney, and the inspector to call him back. He was at a point that he didn’t know if it was even worth it anymore. It was just too stressful and everybody’s always seemed to be upset with him. So, I did my best to talk him off the proverbial cliff and asked him about his systems to work towards a smooth, successful closing and the process he uses to get from contract to closing. He has been in the business for a long time but had never taken the time to develop the process or a checklist so that he could stay on track and keep everyone updated and happy during the closing process.

“So… What is your process to get to a smooth, successful closing every time?”

Here are the key takeaways:

● The more transactions you do the more important systems/processes are.
● Systems/Checklists/Processes are all the same thing. What steps do you need to take to get the transaction from contract to closing?
● Take the time to write down all the steps and put them in order.
● It can be a paper checklist or computerized.
● Follow your process.
● Your process will keep you from dropping the ball.
● You will not be wondering or guessing what comes next.
● You can train people with the system/process when it’s time to grow.
